Elvir Schröter joined Panzerregiment 1 in November 1938,
served during the Polish and French Campaigns as a crew member of a Panzerkampfwagen III with the 2nd Company,
transferred in August 1940 to the 1st Company of Panzerabteilung A and shortly thereafter, to the 1st Company of Panzerregiment 18,
transferred in 1942 to the newly formed Panzerabteilung 160,
experienced the battle of Stalingrad and was flown out by plane,
after his recovery he served as driving instructor at Ohrdruf,
he survived the war and settled after 1945 in his home town in East Germany,
