served during the Polish and French Campaigns as Unteroffizier and panzer commander in the 8th Company,
transferred in August 1940 to the 3rd Company of Panzerabteilung A and shortly thereafter, to the 3rd Company of Panzerregiment 18,
transferred in 1942 to the newly formed Panzerabteilung 160,
furlough saved him from Soviet captivity at Stalingrad,
he transferred to Panzerabteilung Feldherrnhalle in early 1943 and to Panzerabteilung 2106 in 1944,
KIA on 08.091944 (shrapnel in the back) near Briey in France, last rank: Oberfeldwebel
